Meet the Team
Andrew has 20 years construction industry experience gained with main contractors and consulting organisations. Andrew is responsible for business, bid and framework management, liaising with customers from enquiry and tender via appointment through to handover and completion.
Andrew is additionally responsible for company training, bid writing, keeping our policies and accreditations updated (CHAS, Constructionline, CIOB, SafeContractor etc), continual review of our company policies and procedures, leading on our social value initiatives, and supporting the Directors and the wider City Build in the day to day management of our construction contracts.
Dr Martin Berry PhD BSc (Hons)
Martin is our Managing Director and has over 25 years construction industry experience. Martin has been employed by City Build since our first day of trading and has helped guide and manage the business to its current £17m turnover with over 750 projects successfully completed. Martin takes a hands on approach to managing the company, and has active involvement in all of our current projects.
Toby Rexstraw MCIOB MRICS
Toby is a Chartered Builder and Chartered Quantity Surveyor with 25 years’ experience in construction project and cost management. Toby plays an active role in managing projects at City Build, and also acts as framework manager for many of our frameworks, including Rise Construction Framework, Procure Partnerships, University of Manchester and Manchester Airports Group.
Timothy Haley BA FCA
Tim has been the Finance Director since the company was incorporated. A chartered accountant with over 30 years experience, Tim has extensive knowledge of the Construction Industry Sector.
Andrew Kovacs MCIOB
Andrew is responsible for managing our Estimating Department, and has extensive experience in pricing new build, design and build and refurbishment schemes. Andrew is particularly adept at value engineering, working with our design team and supply chain partners to provide innovative solutions which drive efficiency through our construction projects.
Ian is a decisive, highly experienced construction professional with a 30-year demonstrable track record in construction management. He consistently delivers high levels of customer satisfaction and has strong leadership and people management skills. Ian has the ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment and is quick to respond and deliver best practice.
Ian’s 42 years of construction experience has been gained in a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education, commercial and community. Ian has been responsible for the successful delivery of NHS Measured Term Contracts at Salford Royal, Wythenshawe, Royal Bolton and The Countess of Chester Hospitals. Ian has developed a unique knowledge of working in “live” acute hospital environments and their specific practices, rules and procedures.
Bob has worked in construction for 40 years, with the last 20 of those being in construction contract management. His track record encompasses successful delivery of refurbishment, new build and design & build projects for public and private sector clients in the healthcare, education, care and municipal buildings sectors.
Jayne Thomas MAAT
Jayne joined the company over 16 years ago, managing the day to day running of City Build’s accounts department. Jayne has spent her entire career in the construction industry and particularly enjoys working with our dedicated subcontractors and suppliers.
Neil has been with City Build for almost 15 years, commencing his career working on site before moving into the office as an Estimator. He has developed his skills as a highly proficient and accurate estimator, extremely valued for his ability to quickly and effectively price projects of any value.
Linda has worked at City Build for almost 20 years, and is responsible for the day to day management of our Manchester office. Linda is extremely knowledgeable and diligent, and her experience and dedication ensures that her team keeps the office running smoothly for us on a day to day basis. Linda’s motivation and enthusiasm are valuable assets to our team.
Joe Sandiford BSc (Hons)
Joe is a degree-qualified, committed and experience construction professional who consistently delivers high quality commercial management on our projects. Joe has worked for City Build for 15 years, responsible for pre and post contract financial administration on a wide variety of healthcare, education, government, commercial and industrial contracts.
Aston Edge BSc (Hons)
Aston is a degree qualified QS with 10 years experience in commercial management and financial administration of new build, refurbishment and MTC contracts. He is particularly adept in the cost management of NHS healthcare schemes.
George Gardner BSc (Hons)
George joined City Build in 2016 as a year out student. Quick and eager to learn, George has completed his Degree in Quantity Surveying whilst proving himself to be a valuable asset to the team. George is responsible for cost management of projects at Salford Royal Hospital, Royal Bolton Hospital and Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS amongst others.
