We are proud to announce that City Build has been appointed to deliver the second phase of the major regeneration at Walkden Town Centre – a £10 million scheme led by Derwent Estates on behalf of the Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation.
This exciting next phase follows our successful completion of the initial refurbishment package, which saw us transform 33,000 sq ft of retail space ready for handover. Our strong track record, combined with our local roots and live environment expertise, made us the natural choice to continue this transformational project in the heart of Walkden.
Phase Two is set to begin in August and will involve the demolition of 180,000 sq ft of existing shopping centre structures to make way for a striking new façade and 49,000 sq ft of newly refurbished retail space. The works will also create a vibrant new public realm and unlock further development parcels to support the town’s long-term growth.

The redevelopment is being delivered alongside a skilled project team including RGP as architect, Savills as planning consultant, Artal as project manager, and TSA Riley as cost consultant.
The Phase Two works are expected to take 16 months, during which we will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to minimise disruption and ensure safe, efficient delivery
